Yep, I did. I got back on the wheels yesterday. I was starting to feel a little fearful of going back, and knew the longer I put it off, the worse it would be. The swelling was starting to improve a little, and I knew I needed to move. So yesterday I went back to the rink.
Now, I've realized that "getting back up" applies to so many aspects of my life, not the least of which is my weight loss journey. When they scale knocks me down, I've got to get back up and keep going.
I have no clue what happened to my hair in this picture. I look like a cone head!
Anyway, It was actually a really good day to go, special session for the holiday but not crowded at all, very light. I did great! No pain, easy skating, and I really enjoyed it. It was relaxing. I was a little achey when I was done so I took some Motrin and put the ice bag on again last night. This morning, swelling is definitely down a little more.
I got on the scale this morning and not happy AT ALL with the number I see. Could be a sodium issue since we had ham on Sunday for dinner, and also, we went out to dinner last night. So now it's time to pull in and stick to program the rest of the week and continue to try to move. I'll go to the gym this afternoon. Don't know whether I'll attempt a run yet or just stick to the other machines. I'll see how I feel when I get there.

Yeah! Wonderful!! Glad you GOT BACK UP! Sounds like a great time!
ReplyDeleteIt was a good day, Kathleen. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI have a Q: for you, You did WW right? How did you make it work? I have tried it a few times and never lost a pound. Did you eat all your activity points and WPA? I am considering it again, Whatever is going on with me I am gaining and need to figure something out.
ReplyDeleteKathleen, yes, I am a Weight Watcher and reached lifetime in June of '09. I also tried it more than a few times in my life, but for some reason, this time, everything clicked for me. Personally, I don't believe I was ready before. This time, I was.
ReplyDeleteAs far as WPA's and activity points, for me, I use on average maybe half my WPA's, and if I earn more than two activity points, I try to use half that day.
All I can say is that I believe the program works, but it is different for all of us. We each need to figure out that balance as far as how many WPA's we can use in order to lose.
Also, for me, drinking the water is very importance (something I have not been great at the last two weeks). I am very sensitive to sodium so the more water I drink, the better.
But this last trip with Weight Watchers was totally different for me than all the others. I realized from the start, that this was it, it was a lifestyle change FOREVER, and that made all the difference. Also, I became very active this time around, first with roller skating, then adding the running in, and now with the hula hooping. I am very active with the kids in the family and love to just have fun. Finally, I used every tool I had available to me, admitting that sometimes I needed to go to more than one WW meeting a week, using the tools availabe with Weight Watchers eTools, message boards and chat rooms, and, of course, blogging. That has been one of the greatest tools for me and has helped bring me to where I am now.
Hope that helps answer your question. Like I said, everybody is different. I say Weight Watchers works, but I had to be ready and willing to work it.
Hey, Amanda! Yeah, I'm not liking this hair. Stylist convinced me to try to keep it this length instead of going short, short, which is what I wanted to do. I'm just not that good at styling. It good when I left the house.
ReplyDeleteJust ran around the block just now. Wanted to test out the knee. Did okay. The knee didn't really hurt at all while I was running, but boy, am I out of shape! I ran on the treadmill last week, but it's just not the same as running outdoors.
So maybe tomorrow, depending on how the knee feels, I'll run again! Little bits at a time.
