A Good Kind of Tired

I had such high hopes for tonight.  I would take a shower, sit in my recliner with my little netbook and catch up on reading blogs.  But yet again, struggling to keep my eyes from closing at 8:30 at night.

Alarm clock went off at 4:30 and I was at my desk working by 5:00 a.m.  After finishing up my morning work, fixed some lunch and then off to the garden center to pick up some "things" for Easter.  While I was at it, picked up a new Italian parsley plant for myself AND some swiss chard plants!  So excited.  I grow chard every year in the garden but usually start from seeds in the garden.  So having some transplants already at a decent size is a promise of earlier chard cooking away in the kitchen!

Then it was a stop for a cup of coffee and then back home.  From there, I went back to work for a while this afternoon and then decided it was a good time to get out and start tilling the vegetable garden.  Got half of it done and planted my new swiss chard seedlings.

Once the gardening was accomplished, I started dinner and then decided that it was a good time to go for my last run of the week while hubby watched the stove.  So off I went.   Got in a good short run at a decent pace.  Foot and toe are still sore.  Tried a gel cushion in my running shoes, but that didn't really help much.  Didn't stop me from running though!

Wow, am I tired now.  Should be a good sleeping night.

AND I got a little package delivered today!  My fuel belt!  I was surprised when it was delivered.  Didn't expect it until Monday.  And I picked up a neat L.L. Bean waist pack at the thrift store to carry my things to the race start and turns out it matches the fuel belt.

Going to take the fuel belt with my on my long run this weekend to see how it feels.  It has four small water bottles and a little zipper pouch although the pouch is "very small".  Might go ahead and buy a bigger pouch to go along with it.

The waist pack is from L.L. Bean.  It's like a backpack but wraps around the waist.  I have  been looking for a backpack that I could use to carry all my "stuff" to the start line, and then just hand it off to hubby until I'm done, you know, a jacket, an extra hat, Gatorade, snacks, maybe a dry t-shirt.  Anyway, this will work out just perfectly.  It has all kinds of little compartments inside and out.  In fact, if I decide to get into hiking this year, it would be perfect for that too, or for the beach, or a little road trip or even just a day at the park.

I'm getting anxious and excited about this half-marathon, but it's so far away.  That's why I HAVE to get some shorter distance events lined up.  I was going to check that out tonight too, but I've done enough today.  Maybe tomorrow.

So there you have it.  I'm very tired, but it's a good tired.  I've had a good day.
