Ten Days to Christmas!

Holy cow, how did that happen? I can't believe Christmas is almost here. Good news is I'm getting closer and closer to the top of my goal range. Maybe I'll get there by my one-year anniversary date of coming back in March.

This picture was taken over a month ago now so guess I better get a new one taken to add.

Still A Loser

It's been a while since I posted. It's a slow journey, but still traveling along. I've lost a total of 24.5 pounds since going back to Weight Watchers. I have now successfully lost the weight I gained when I quit and am more motivated than ever. I am now trying to watch sodium (I can't believe the amount in some products) and am also trying to wear my pedometer every day.
Decided to have a little fun today and pulled out my wedding dress. I wanted to try it on and see just how big it is now. Wow! Photo attached. I mean, really, who was that person wearing that dress. I don't ever, ever, ever want to be that big again!

Plateau??

Could it be that I have already hit my first plateau? I am on program, but last week gained .2 and this week gained .6. Now, I know that in total, that is less than a pound and I am not really "upset" about it, just curious as to what's going on.

My goal this week is to try to get more exercise and lay off the sodium a little bit, drink more water if I can. Other than that, I don't know what's happening. However, I am not going to let it stop me. I look back at where I was, and I don't want to ever be that person again.

Maybe another thing I could try is to only allow myself only 2 points at the end of the day for an evening snack and use the rest of the points during the day. I tend to "save" up my points and then at the end of the day, feel a duty to eat those points while I'm watching tv.

So we're moving forward, and I know it will happen. It just hasn't happened yet.

Kitchen Remodel

Shot taken from the dining room before the wall was torn down.

Notice the white metal cabinets and tiled walls! By the way, those
were the only cabinets I had in the kitchen.

Yes, I had a yellow/gold stove and refrigerator

New kitchen view from diningroom.

A Gift in Every Day

My Weight Watchers leader told us recently at a meeting that every day, you're given a gift; you just have to look for it. That little statement has made such an impact on my life this summer.

Not long after that meeting, I went on summer vacation to the beach, my first real vacation in several years. One morning, I was walking along the beach early in the morning with my sister and niece. My niece was skipping down the beach when suddenly she stopped. There in the sand was a beautiful little butterfly with one wing buried in the wet sand. My niece picked up the butterfly, put it on her finger and continued down the beach. That little butterfly stayed on her finger, fluttering i's wings in the sun, perhaps drying the wet sand and shaking if off its wings as we continued down the beach for I'll bet 45 minutes. Eventually, my niece placed the little butterfly down on the dry sand of the beach and we continued our walk, confident that the butterfly, now dry and rested, would now be able to continue on its own little journey. I told my niece that day what my Weight Watchers leader had told me about the gift every day, and told her that the pretty little butterfly was our gift of the day.

The message I got from that little butterfly that day is that even though it may seem at times as if you're stuck in the mud and just can't go on, don't give up. Someone will come along and be there for you, family, friends, Weight Watchers group, whoever, but there will always be someone to help you through a rough time.

Every day is full of gifts. A beautiful butterfly, that perfect sunset, the smile offered to you by a passing stranger. The gifts are out there. It's up to us to find them.

My Journey

Well, today is my very first posting on my very first blog. I'm just beginning in this great new world of blogging, so bear with me, folks, as I get my feet wet.

I am a Weight Watcher, currently in what I call Phase 2 of my journey. Phase 1 of my journey began about five years ago when I was asked to be in a wedding. I decided that it was time once and for all to lose the weight. I struggled through and lost 50 pounds on phase 1. But then it got harder. I started to go up and down, up and down with the weight and didn't seem to be getting anywhere. So eventually, as I have done so many times in the past, I gave up. When I gave up, the weight started to come back on, and I gained back about 20 pounds.

But not this time, guys. About six months ago, I decided it was time to get back on the wagon. So my journey continued, phase 2. I have since taken that 20 pounds back off and am now moving on.

So here we go, what I'll now call phase 3, the journey to the finish line, GOAL!
