So I'm being honest, coming out about it because it's making me crazy worrying about it. Because my WW meetings are on Saturdays, I was not introduced to the new plan until last Saturday and this is my first week on.
I was very positive about it going in. I mean, I kind of have a safety net in that I'm at goal and I know the old plan, so if this doesn't work, I can go back to what did work...BUT I WANT IT TO WORK. I've been reading a lot of positive results from others so it should work, and I really, really, really would like to get that ten pounds off that I've struggled with over the past year. I am hoping that this new program will give me just the new start I need.
Okay. So I've been following it all week. Well, Saturday was a little rough, pasta and meatballs, Panera's bread, but I also mixed in spagetti squash and roasted veggies with my pasta to keep the points down, I tracked as best I could and moved on. The rest of the week has been good. I've definitely been getting more fruit and veggies in, less bread, and more fiber. Let me just say that I FEEL GOOD. Throughout the day, I seem to have more energy and just feel better....but I also feel HEAVY. My jeans are snug, and I just don't feel like myself. Got on the scale, and my weight has not dropped at all yet. In fact, it may be up a little.
Now, I know I have two more full days of following the plan and then get weighed on Saturday, but is anybody else experiencing this "bloated" feeling? What's going on? Could it be the fiber? I have had a problem in the past if I have too much whole wheat or very high fiber products. Could that be it? This week, I've had brown rice a few days, whole wheat couscous, chili with beans, and I had Fiber One cereal one day too, but I don't know if that was enough to send me over the edge.
I've also gotten activity in. I skated three hours Sunday, and I ran yesterday 5 miles, skated again last night, and I'm hoping to get out for a run today if all goes well and I can stay on track.
So I'm trying to hang in there, think positive, continue following the new program and have faith that it works. It must work if everyone else is having success. And like I said, have two full days left. A lot can happen in two days, right?
Just looking for your opinion if you're following.

Hi, Reenie. I'm six pounds from goal (a lapsed Lifetimer) and have been stressing since they mentioned the new plan. I weigh on Saturdays, too, but then went back the next day (the first day the plan was revealed) because I was so anxious. I gained .4 the first week on plan. I haven't weighed myself yet, but I am not feeling any loss. I hate the new plan. I feel like I'm on a diet; I am getting cravings, which hadn't happened in the year and a half I've been back at WW; and I feel all I do is obsess about food. I like carbs, but had been happy with an Arnold's Bagel Thin at breakfast and/or lunch (with protein, of course). I always eat lots of veggies, but don't love fruit. I'm paid up until Christmas and may just go back to Momentum if things don't get better. I'd hate not going to meetings and not having eTools, but I sincerely believe this new program is all about WW making more money.
ReplyDeleteHi, Arlene. First of all, wanted to let you know saw your Pasta Fagioli recipe and can't wait to try it, although with one little "tweak" of my own. I don't care for kidney beans but LOVE cranberry beans a/k/a borlotti beans. So I'll be using those instead.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your response. First of congrats on being so close to goal. Like I said, I'm giving the new plan a try and still hoping for positive results. Just seems so different to me. But there are SO MANY people out there that IT IS working for. So I'm trying to stay positive about it.
I too love the Arnolds bagel thins and sandwich things and have been staying away from them "because the points went up", but then again, my daily points and weekly points went up to, so that should take care of it.
I am definitely eating more than with the Momentum plan. For me (and this is must my feelings), I felt more like I was on a diet with Momentum. The new plan has definitely steered me toward making healthier choices. It's the real high fiber stuff that might end up giving me a problem. But we'll see on Saturday. I will give it a few weeks and see how it all works out.
And I feel the same about the meetings and eTools, by the way. I have been at goal for about a year and a half, but even so, I go to my meeting every week AND STAY FOR THE MEETING.
Well I have been on it for 2 weeks and I am up 2.5 pounds. I am not overdoing it with the fruit and am sticking to the plan, exercising every day, worried if I commit another 2 weeks I'll have gained 5 by then. I feel like I am eating too much. Besides a sandwich thin here and there I never eat bread. My diet hasn't really changed at all except the fact that I now am eating more. I am curius to find out your decision since you are more of an "expert" on WW.
ReplyDeleteHey, Amanda!!!! I'm up, but not as much as I was earlier in the week. Starting to feel "less bloated". Still have another day yet. So we'll see what happens, and like I said, I'm really only counting this week as 6 days, because Saturday I was not really "on plan".
ReplyDeleteI feel GOOD though.
Reen--sorry about the name; I'm reading a book and a character is Reenie and...well, I got carried away with my message, lol. I'm sure barlotti beans will be great in the soup. I had a heck of a time finding them for another bean soup last fall.
ReplyDeleteArlene, it's okay. Believe it or not, you hit it right on. My nickname is "Reenie". Was wondering, didn't think I had signed anything that way. :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, we buy the cranberry beans fresh when we see them. We buys quite a lot of them, then my husband shells them for me and we freeze them. We have also grown them in the garden. LOVE THEM!
