Marathon High

I am still on a Marathon High even though I did not actually participate in the half-marathon as I had wanted, but it was the first time I ever experienced the atmosphere of a hugh event like this, and I am still so excited!    I got to cheer on a few of my friends from the sidelines as well as many strangers.  I was screaming and cheering people on as they crossed the finish, and I'm surprised that I still have a voice left.  I was so excited for them!

First of all, I got to meet my blogging buddy, Marisa!   Marisa and her husband ran the 10K.  Great job, girl! And let me just say you are even more beautiful and more bubbly in person! Meeting you in person was one of the highlights of the weekend for me!

The start of the race was very exciting.  Just one big crowd of people, male, female, all ages, all sizes, all excited to get on their way, whether it be a 5K, 10K, half-marathon, full marathon.

There were people running alone, husband and wives running together, friends running together, parents and children, of all ages too, from the very young children to the seniors.  JUST AMAZING!  And at times, you saw one person who was struggling to cross the finish and sometimes being physically supported by their partner in order to finish!  The smiles on the faces was absolutely priceless.

I will never, never forgot that day.  I loved every minute of it, and even though I came home with a swollen knee from being up and walking too much over the weekend, I would do all over again!  Next year, as long as I am healthy, I will be running the half-marathon instead of just watching from the sidelines!

Oh, yeah, and least I forgot the guy who ran while juggling! Hee hee!

Oh, yes, one more highlight of the weekend, this picture of me placing my hand in the handprint of Barry Manilow which was hanging on the wall of Resorts!

Yes, have to admit that back in the day, I was a HUGE Manilow fan. Hope you'll still follow my blog now that you know that "little secret". :)

  2. Reen, it was so awesome to meet you in person, finally! Thank you so much for cheering me on and thanks to your husband for taking the video of us crossing the finish! It is so great to be able to relive that moment through the video!!

I know all the emotions you were feeling! I found the whole race experience to be so exciting. If it wasn't for wanting to spend time with the husband celebrating our anniversary, I would have stayed there all day cheering on the runners as they came in!

I think you, Amanda and I should plan on doing AC half marathon next year! Let's get her on board!
