Can't Catch Up

Wow, I miss being able to sit and read all my favorite blogs every morning...or evening.  Time just hasn't been on my side lately.  Not enough of it in a day for me.   But that's not always a bad thing.  I've had lots and lots of work lately to keep me busy and help pay off some bills.  I've gotten to the gym four out of five work days a week for the last three weeks.  I'm slowly starting to get some of the garden cleaned up.  The heat here on the east coast has been really rough, which meant I was watering like crazy but putting off the garden tending.  The veggie garden is producing nicely though, even with all the weeds.   And although hubby is still not feeling great, we have managed to get some time for ourselves in as well.

Last week's weigh-in went well.   I'm still trying to take off those last few pounds to get to "my goal", but I know they will come if I just keep doing it.   I have defnitely noticed a change lately in my body which I attribute to the workouts in the gym.

I'm struggling again with that nighttime need to "snack". Ughh! I have no skinny cow ice creams or fudge bars in the house, and I think that might be part of the problem. I'm searching for something else to satisfy me. Last night, I ended up having a cup of high fiber cereal, which did the trick. Wish I had figured that out before I had the 100-calorie bar. I'm hiding those 100-calorie bars now so that I'm not automatically reaching for them. Must get more fruit in the house too. Watermelon and cantelope is such a great snack this time of year!

I got my hula hoop out after dinner one night and hooped for 30 minutes while wearing my heartrate monitor.  I burned 130 calories and had a blast doing it!  And my hooping skills are improving too.

I finally made an appointment to go back to the doctor "again" about the foot.  At this point, doesn't look like I'll be doing that half marathon in October, and I'm totally disappointed, but I don't want to mess it up so I can't run long-term.  There will be other half marathons.  Right now, I want to get things under control and find out what's going on.

  1. You're doing great, Reen! Good for you for finding a more filling substitute for those 100 calorie treats.

Sorry about the half, but like you said, there will always be more. Not hurting yourself is most important!

  2. Thanks, Marisa and Amanda! I know there will be other races to run. Just want to be sure what I'm doing, you know?

Marisa, did you get a chance to look at any of those recipe? What did you think? P.S. LOVE the new diningroom!
