I got up this morning feeling really beat up. Everything aches. I've really been trying to get the workouts in "running" this week, have done well, but it's taken a toll. I'm up to 4.5 miles now running, intervals of 5/1. Yesterday I broke down and hit the treadmill at the gym. I REALLY prefer running outside, not on the treadmill. So if I run today (I think I won't, body needs a break) or tomorrow, I'm going to dress in warm gear and do it outdoors. It just feels right, natural.
Wait, stop! Did you hear that? Did I really, really say that? Is that possible? I think I did! Yep, there it is, in black and white, running feels natural? Yep. I really did say it, it feels natural to run outside. Wow. How far I have come. Hmmm.
I guess I still surprise myself. And thinking about it now, this morning, I realize that even though I've lost 75 pounds, even though I have been at goal for a year and a half, I still feel....well, like I'm a heavyweight. I'm not there yet mentally. I need to figure out what it is that I have not broken through yet. I think because I was overweight my entire life, that inside, deep back in my brain is still that image that I am an overweight woman. But I'm not. I'm at goal (even though I'd like to get another 10 pounds off) .... see there, I go again!
Anyway, in the meantime, I am still waiting to be introduced to the new WeightWatchers program. Tomorrow is the big day for me. As my meetings are on Saturdays, and the program was introduced to the world last Sunday, I believe, we have yet to meet.
I took a stand last week and said I would not find out about the program by going on the Weight Watcher websites or from reading all my favorite blogs. I wanted to hear it from my leader and learn about it there. So unfortunately, to stay true to my promise, I have missed out on reading all my favorite blogs. If the post had anything to do with the program, I skipped it. I'm sorry to do that, but I don't wany to have any opinions about the program ahead of time.
So looks like I'll have a lot of blog reading to do after tomorrow morning, because I do intend to go back and see what everyone has been doing they're doing on the program.

I much prefer running outdoors, too! I'm so happy that you're back to running, Reen! I can "hear" how good it makes you feel!
ReplyDeleteI also understand the feeling of still being a heavyweight. Unfortunately, I still am! LOL! But, I know I've come a long way, too. My brain never quite caught up to my body, either. I spent my whole life being heavy, so I don't know if my brain knows how to think any other way. It will take lots of time and practice to change that mindset I think :)
Have fun at your meeting tomorrow!
can't wait to hear what you think! The mentally part is the hardest to get over, I still see the same person heavier or thinner. My mirror doesn't change. The way my clothes fit are my only guage. Too bad they could find a program that can change the mental as you go along with the physical. I guess that's what is so great about the blogger community, we all have been there, we all understand.
ReplyDeleteKathleen, you are so right. That is what's so great about the blogger community. Finding other people out there that feel the same way you do is a great feeling.
ReplyDeleteMarisa, I think, even though it's going to be cold, I might hit the pavement a little tomorrow and Sunday. Other than going to my meeting tomorrow morning, I'm going to be stuck inside working all weekend, so it will be a good break. As long as I dress warm, it's not so bad, actually invigorating.
So, Kathleen, I officially got the news on the new Weight Watchers program this morning, and I have to say, I am excited about it. It's going to take a bit to get used to recalculating everything, but I'm excited to try it. I'd like to get this last 10 pounds off that I wanted after getting to goal, and hopefully that this program along with my excitement of starting something new will do that for me.
ReplyDeleteAre you trying it?
