Post-Memorial Day Post

Wow, am I exhausted. One day after our Memorial Day Parade, which went off without a problem (well, pretty much). I'm on the Memorial Day Parade committee and the last two weeks have just been so crazy busy with meetings and phone calls, plus trying to get my work done for my real job AND trying to get some activity in, eat right, get enough rest......

Not only am I on the parade committee, but also in the parade with our Neighborhood Watch group, which made it extra special. We had a float in the parade. It was so much fun. The weather was sunny and hot, hot, hot for the parade yesterday, a blazing 92 degrees with absolutely no clouds. I was drinking water constantly for at least three straight hours. I walked over 3 miles total yesterday. Funny thing is I run that distance and more a couple times a week and I'm never as sore and achy as I was last night at the end of the day. Must have been the heat and all the stopping and standing, then marching, then stopping and standing.

So today is all about letting the dust settle and building the energy back. I was asleep last night by 9:30 and up at 6:00 a.m. Need to do that again tonight and I should be back to normal.

Didn't go to my WW meeting this past Saturday. There was just way too much to do. Scale looks good from home though, and I wore a pair of cute white crop jeans that didn't quite fit when I bought them. So I'm feeling good. Definitely need to hit the produce and fruit this week though. Haven't had my share the last two days.

So now all I'm thinking about is running. I want to run, but it's going to be pretty warm here this week. Maybe if I get up early tomorrow. We'll see what the weather report says tonight. I've also got my thoughts on signing up for another run. It's time. I did my first 5K last October, then surgery and recovery. I'm ready. I've already run a 10K on my own. I'm going to start checking them out in the area. My nephew told me yesterday he also started running and would like to run with me once in a while. I told him that would be great and maybe he'd do a 5K with me! Of course, I'd also like to get him to QUIT SMOKING!!!! One thing at a time.

  1. Whew! I see why you're exhausted!

I'm having a hard time running in this heat! I guess we are used to training in the colder weather, right?! I'm thinking I'll have to get up earlier...
