Baby Steps

Sometimes, that's exactly how this journey has been, baby steps, one tiny step at a time, sometimes several baby steps, one after the other, and also, at times, a step back in the wrong direction, or fall, but we pick ourselves up and keep trying. It all comes together and before you know it, and before you know it, your clothes are baggy, you're feeling better about yourself, and just keep going.

This week, I lost 3/4's of a pound. I'll take it. I wish it had been more, but I know I was so busy with work this week that I DID NOT get in the activity points required and still have trouble snacking (Yep, Amanda, me too!). So this week's goal is to try to get a better handle on the snacking AND get more activity in. The roller skating rink is closed today (one of my favorite activities), but it looks like a beautiful day so no excuses. I can get a run in and/or get some more gardening done. I'M JUST GONNA DO IT!

So yesterday was a cool day. First, went to early, early meeting for my weigh-in. I had planned on heading right home after I got weighed since I had plans at 9:30 a.m., but ran into some members from the later meeting that I hadn't seen lately. So I stayed and talked for a while. So great to see everyone's progress!

Then I met a girlfriend I've had since high school for breakfast and a day of shopping. What was SO COOL about our "shopping adventure" was that her and I had not gone shopping together in years and years. I remember even back right after high school when we did go shopping together, we were never, ever shopping in the same department. She was so tiny and fit and I always had to shop in the "big girl" departments. Well, NOT ANYMORE! It was so neat. We were both picking up the same things off the rack and showing it to each other and then cracking up because we both had the same thing in our hand to show the other. LOVED IT! Was such a great day. We laughed and carried on like school girls, trying on crazy hats and taking pictures (I'll try to post them once she sends them to me).

Problem with my Saturday was that I blew through WAY TOO MANY extra points. So I definitely have some work to do this week to get the activity but I know I can do it. Think I'll tape up a giant piece of paper next to my desk with the number of extra points I ate yesterday as a reminder to stay on track strictly for the rest of the week AND get the activity in.

Got our gas grill all cleaned up, fixed up, and filled up, ready to go for the summer. I LOVE grilling. I really love a good charcoal fire, but not always the option when we're running here and there. For a family of two (just me and hubby), we have a gas grill, a smoker, a hibachi, a little kettle grill and a large kettle grill. I know, ridiculous, right? Anyway, today I'm going to marinate some chicken breasts with a new recipe I got out of a Martha Stewart magazine (mustard, sage and garlic marinade) and I'm also going to grill some veggies on the side for it (zucchini and eggplant). I'll let you know how the marinade turns out.

What's your favorite WW-friendly grill recipe?
